Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player won his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from March of that year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured 21 championships at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had led commentators to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent saved 4 initial break points in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
