A man who laced candy with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer program in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males aged between nine and ten.

Jon Ruben was arrested after eight children and one adult became sick at the location in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.

However, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was involving a young boy.

The accused was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on late November.

'Treat game'

The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.

She stated his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer program which he operated.

Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".

She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the following morning.

She explained the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had worries in summer 2025.

The legal representative continued: "Recently" his family member had worries about the situation, with valid cause.

"They resolved" to examine in the individual's items."

The legal counsel said objects including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were found, and his stepson alerted the authorities about his worries.

She stated the defendant continued to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she stated further.

The oversight body, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.

Mrs Prior explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson called the law enforcement a second time.

She said Ruben then played the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
